Cedele - Maple Cake

I've been having an insane craving for Cedele's Maple Hazelnut (or is it almond? tastes the same anw) blueberry cake with cream cheese frosting, ever since I ate it about a month ago at my Grandma's birthday.

The cake is simply delicious, because I'm a great fan of maple syrup (must be all that Macdonalds pancakes last time!) and cream cheese. And blueberry (love blueberry when it's in those neighbourhood bakery green-coloured waffles!).

The lucious cream cheese icing goes extremely well with the sweet maple syrup taste, and best of all, the icing is so decadantly thick :D

And to top of the whole winning combination, there's lots of nuts encrusting the circumference of the cake.

Oh my I'm getting insanely hungry now!

No prizes for guessing what kind of cake I'm getting for my birthday this year! :D

I'll give it 5 stars, but then EVERYONE will come to me and say "aiyah i thought the cake was very extremely nice, but it's just average lah!" if i raise everyone's expectations up so high by raving about it :P

I went to raffles city (to get something, but also to look for the maple blueberry hazelunt cake) but they didn't have stock! Sadness! I hope they start selling more pre-sliced verisons of this, since I can't be buying a whole cake everytime a Maple Blueberry hazelnut Cake craving hits!

Cedele (3)

Ah the whole week I've only gone out once for lunch. Cos I've been extremely busy :( But lunch was very good - with Chocolate Banana Expresso from Cedele. The cake is soft and spongy and fresh (like a Lana cake), with generous chocolate expresso icing and caramelized bananas (not the soggy yucky kind). It's pretty ex at $5 bucks but I think having it once in a while is fine.
I also tried the soup, salad and drink set (it's suposed to be $12.50, but the woman charged us for a sandwich lunch set i think, so it was $14.80 including the sandwich, when the sandwich costs $8 by itself)Out of the 4 soup of the day(s), I tried the pumpkin apple soup - it's a weird tasting soup, I can't make up my mind if it's sweet or savoury, and the apple is quite tangy. It's a nice change from the usual pumpkin soup.

The Burmese Tofu Salad with Corriander was passable - it's not very tasty, unless you consider the brown bits of fried garlic and corriander. Don't eat this if you don't like corriander though, cos you'll be wasting your money.
With soup of the day comes free flow of fresh cedele bread :D There was this walnut raisin one which was worth mentioning - the rest are like white bread and wholemeal bread. You'll also have a free flow of olive oil, balsamic vinegar or herb butter.

This is the rosemary chicken burger with cranberry sauce - the highlight of the whle burger is the cranberry sauce - it's not overly sweet and it's sour like how cranberry should be. But I prefer the tofu chicken burger cos it's softer and juicier.

The quiche set comes with salad and a drink - I think it's about $10.50. This is the apple orange almond salad but I didnt try this. The quiche is just like a quiche (I don't really like quiches so it's not for me to say).Science Canteen has a new cafe/restaurant - it's called 'Megabites' cos it's in the computing building -_-

The food there looks promising and cheap - hope the quality is good (unlike some other cafe in science...)

Cedele - Lunch

I've finally gotten down to trying Cedele.
We tried the set lunch(es) and I tried a Tofu Chicken burger.
The set lunch is $17.80++ and comes with soup of the day (4 choices- tomato, pumpkin, chicken tarragon, clam chowder), 4 choices for mains and drink.

Chicken tarragon soup - it's quite unique but I prefer cream soups. It's quite robust - the soup is nice and cloudy filled with cooked microscopic chicken, with quite a bit of shredded chicken and lots of tarragon floating about.
Clam chowder was nicer - they used bacon bits to make it even tastier. And it's very creamy.

Grilled salmon and risotto. The risotto is buttery and has the delicious risotto texture - not soggy not overcooked - where else can you find risotto for this price, with a set somemore? and the salmon is not hard and dry - it's juicy and flaky and not too salty.Crab chilli and lime pasta - I didn't quite like this one, maybe cos I hate having lime/lemon in my food. But it's quite a refreshing taste - the zingy lime mixed with the chillies will tickle your tastebuds. Here's my Tofu Chicken Burger. It's $8. V ex.
But there's a nice fat juicy patty - it's not so tough cos there's tofu minced inside - and the bread is crusty and fresh. I think I'll go to Cedele insetead of Coffeebean for sandwiches - though it's costlier, it tastes much better.
And this is my yummy carrot walnut cake - it's moist and spongy - but the best part is the icing! Its a nice thick layer yum!

Raffles City - Cedele and Wow Tako

Tried Cedele for the first time yesterday - chocolate truffle cake for $5
Its very chocolaty and not too sweet - and it's the cheesecake kind of consistency not the mousse kind and it's nice enough that I'll go back and get another one next time. The bread section looks really yummy - there was white sourdough bread, ciabatta in three flavours, multigrain wholemeal etc etc.
The next stop was Wow Tako cos we were dying to eat something savoury after the cake. And lots of people were walking past cedele with these takoyaki.

This is the only other takoyaki i've tried in Singapore other than the one at Taka. The taka one is called Takopachi.

Like the Takopachi, this comes in a horrible CFC polluting plastic container - they have more flavours than Takopachi though. The usual Octopus, Prawn, Ham and Cheese, but they also have a spicy version, as well as a Double Ham and Cheese. The price range for the usual flavours is $2.20, same as takopachi, and for double ham and cheese it's $2.50.They're much more generous with the katsuobushi (the brown stuff tt waves about) but less so for the mayo. But I quite like fish flakes so tt's good.
As compared to takopachi, this one is more solid - harder and firmer flour base. And a bit cakey too. I prefered the texture of takopachi cos it's softer and smoother.Of course, I decided to be adventurous and try the Double Cheese, which is essentially Ham and Cheese takoyaki, with a generous scoop of molten cheese (think nachos but not so thick) on top. If you look closely at the picture, you'll notice that the tako balls are surrounded with cheese. Both Cedele and Wow Tako are located at Raffles City The Marketplace, B1
