Tea Party

I've realised recently that there's actually quite a bit of good food around my house area, but then I've just only started trying them out. For example, the row of restaurants infront of 6th Avenue, just before the next row of restaurnats (where Pasta Fresca and Ritz Apple Strudle is) has Omar Sharif (Northern Indian restaurant with great service) and Tea Party.

The signboard for Tea Party is hard to miss - it's in rainbow colours, and it's located very conveniently behind the bus stop infront of 6th Avenue, along Bukit Timah Road. Of course, it serves tea - and a wide variety of it too. Actually, I wanted to order the Iced Melon Cassablanca tea, which was on the 2nd page of the menu and was highly recommended, but they didn't have it. There is white tea, black tea, green tea, riboose(sp?) etc etc and they come hot or iced. They have a small selection of coffees, as well as main courses and snacks. Here's my Ice Blended Tea. I forgot what it was but then it's like a more ex version of teh si peng with blended ice.

The one on the right is some white tea, which is supposed to have 3X more antioxidants than black tea (which is fermented) and thus will help fight against wrinkles. I supposed that it's an alternative to the very expensive SK II. Apparently, according to the waitress, White tea is used in beauty saloons and spas as an anti-ageing product. Dunno how true it is though.
The highlight of the tea we had there was the scones. It's very popular - here are lots of magazine and newspaper clippings outisde the cafe that say the scones are really good. I wanted to try the blueberry scone, but then they were still baking them, so we settled for chocolate chip scones instead. The scones come with either jam and butter or strawberry cream cheese.

Although I don't really like scones, these were fresh, not too light nor heavy, and slightly moist inside, and with a generous portion of chocolate chips. It was served hot, the chocolate chips slightly melted, and with a nice dollop of strawberry cream cheese. The cream cheese seems to be whipped (?) and is very light - with a texture which was a bit like whipped cream. There was a subtle hint of strawberry - not overpowering and as an aftertaste.

The scones range from about $2 something to $3.90, with flavours such as raisin, cranberry, chocolate chip, blueberry etc.
