Sho-U Modern Japanese Dining

Went to The Central to look for Japanese food to try. We decided on Sho-U cos it had reasonabley priced lunch sets(compared to it's very expensive dinners). The decor was unique, reminds me of The Matrix. After walking through this flaming red passage, you'll come to many black rooms, and there is even this Japanese Style Room with furry walls.
After all the dark, black rooms, you'll suddenly step into a white room (super bright).
The decor is really nice, it's very clean and you have a feeling of spaciousness. There were 4 set lunches to choose from, named set ichi, ni, san and yon (Japanese for 1,2,3,4) in order of pricing. Set one starts from $23 for chicken, and set 3 is about $28 and set 4 is $32

Set 4 has Foie Gras with brown rice in a stone bowl, makerel soup, unagi chawanmushi and their signature salad.
The salad was nice and crisp, with a very unique tangy dressing (I have absolutely no idea what goes inside, I simply can't place the taste).
The 2 pieces of foie gras are of a generous size, and are nicely seared on the outside. The makerel is soft and flaky, and the soup is tasty and clear, with lots of mushrooms.

Set 3 had Vegetable tempura, chawanmushi, and sashimi.

The beef sukiyaki was apparently very good, and the meat is tender. I liked the tuna sashimi - it's not the ordinary kind, it is slightly pinkish and fatty (all the omega 3 fatty acids good for the brain.

We tried the Chef's Place of Speciality Desserts, which had Strawberry Yoghurt Ice cream, Caramel Custard and a Tofu Cheesecake.

The yoghurt ice cream was icy and the yoghurt was slightly sour (I quite like it to be sour).

The caramel custard was soft and wobbly, with a slightly bitter caramel on the top.

I particularly liked the Tofu Cheesecake. It's very much better than the one from Sun and Moon, you can really taste the tofu and it's there as a pleasant aftertaste. The service is good, the staff are efficient and helpful, and they came many times to top up our green tea (not complimentary , it's $1 per cup).
The dinner menu is very intersting, theres this very Alcololic menu which costs $88+++ (waaaay off my budget) and it has intersting things like sashimi with a sake dressing, and Beer Ice cream and sake sherbert or something like that :D mmm i would like to try that

hello Roy, that's why I go out to eat - no cooking cleaning or mess. Let the chef do the work since they're so good at it :p
